Just out boppin around with Linkletter and Hobo John and we find ourselves in Chico! Again! Well, the last time this happened I had an Amazing lunch at the Italian Cottage Restaurant, so as not to tempt the Gods...We'll do it again. The Hobo got a pretty good looking Italian sandwich, and Linkletter asked for a simple ham and jack, and he got it....and it looked fine. So, I asked for a ham and jack, and said "Can you pretend it's my last meal, and I'll need to remember this sandwich for an eternity" Man-O-Man did they pull through! That sando was Amazing!

I got a small pepperoni pizza and the breadsticks with pesto. Both were excellent. Employees are friendly. Prices are very expensive, and I was tempted to give Italian Cottage 4-stars because of the prices. They could also offer a butter alternative like a butter made from olive-oil which would be more inline with Italian cooking. They put a garlic butter on the pesto breadsticks. The breadsticks already have the olive oil from the pesto, so maybe an olive-oil plant-based butter would be better. The garlic flavor is great. I'm suggesting a garlic olive-oil plant-based butter. And as a Sicilian-American, I can say that butter is not really used in Italy or Sicily except on table bread, and maybe as part of some specific dishes like chicken piccata or some other pasta or fish dishes. Maybe I'm wrong. Being Sicilian doesn't make me an expert on Italian food, but an olive-oil plant-based butter would be a nice option.

This is the warm and cozy Italian place to eat in Chico. Tables large enough to sit as a big family and cozy booths to sit with a friend for a catch up lunch. The outdoor patio seating is also some of the best in Chico in nice spring days. Sara is one of my favorite faces to see when our family walks in the door. Sara helps get our to-go orders right and always has a contagious smile to accompany her positive attitude. Prices have gone up, like everywhere, but everyone in our extended family has a favorite dish for breakfast, lunch or dinner at Italian Cottage. The waiting room Pac-Man game is great for our young kids and to settle any squabbles. Cheers to this iconic restaurant and its staff.

Pleasantly surprised. The ambience reminded me of old time italian restaurants in Little Italy-New York City; as well as your Nona's kitchen (grandma's kitchen). We were greeted and seated with little wait time. Our server was great and menu knowledgeable answering questions we had. They offer specials of the day as well as assorted pizzas, sandwiches, salads, pasta, I did notice some vegan meals. Besides water they also serve espresso coffee, tea (hot/cold), regular coffee, pop, beer, wine, desserts. Lunch was good and friends advised dinner is good but does get crowded. If you're coming for dinner you may want to call ahead to see if reservations are required. I also noticed there is outdoor seating as well as a larger dining room. Very clean restrooms as well. By the way we were told they do serve breakfast until 11:00 a.m. There was a pretty good crowd at lunch but no problem getting a table. If you are in a mood for Italian food get over to this establishment.

For 40 years I've enjoyed their pastrami and Swiss sandwiches and their minestrone soup. Fabulous!!

Wonderful atmosphere, mouth watering food and drink, and a staff that is very friendly; it’s a true Italian experience. Affordable prices will have us returning.

Amazing food, excellent service, and great prices! The staff was attentive and made our visit perfect. We’ll definitely be back!

Service, atmosphere and food are all great. My favorite is the pastrami sandwich and a side salad.
